Soft and Chewy Ginger Cookies



These Soft and Chewy Ginger Cookies are ideal for the holidays or whenever you crave a warm and comforting treat. The combination of spices and molasses creates a rich and aromatic flavor that will please your palate.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C

Line baking sheets with parchment paper

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the molasses and the egg until well combined

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined

Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to make it easier to handle

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar

Place the sugar-coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them

Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
